This is an independent monitoring page, not a warning system. For warnings and evacuations (if ordered) follow the National Weather Service and Kerr County officials. River gauges report on 15–60 minute cycles — in a flash flood, water moves faster than the data.
SITUATION — POSTED JULY 14
This MCV (Mesoscale Convective Vortex) storm is not expected to end until late Thursday night. Significant rainfall in short durations can cause deadly conditions.
Please never drive through flooded roadways. July 4 taught us that high-velocity flooding can occur even at higher elevations. No matter where you are, have a plan to get to higher ground — preferably not a roof or structure in an area prone to flash flooding — and have a way to get away from the flood water completely if the signs emerge that you need to escape, now. Know before you go. Learn it. Rehearse it. Execute if needed. If you follow this, you'll know exactly what to do and when.

Gauges are listed upstream → downstream. The red dashed line on each trace marks this page's attention threshold for that gauge — not an official flood stage. Official NWS flood stages exist only for Hunt (10 ft), Kerrville (9 ft), and Comfort (21 ft); the other gauges have none published, so their cards say so. The South Fork gauge is new (installed April 2026) and reports river stage only; it was the stream that delivered the July 4, 2025 flood wall and had no gauge at the time. A gauge going silent during high water is itself important: in 2025, gauges failed at the flood peak.
